Blue Velvet

Today, I bought a duck. On a whim. Not really a thing to do on a whim, but I am determined to make it the best whim decision ever. I was at a really super dodgy trash and treasure market and I just saw a little cage with like 30 of them in there all squeaking and I just decided I wanted to buy one to save it from a fate I wouldn't be too confident in recommending. If you know me, you will know that doing something like that is totally out of character and I honestly don't know what came over me.

So I bought this little duckling home and my sister caught sight of it and wanted one for herself. So now we have two ducklings. They are also sisters and are very cute and mine literally thinks I am her Mother and chirps as soon as she can't see me. My first day of motherhood has been exhausting, and I say this in the most affectionate way possible.

I haven't named her yet. I can't come up with something that seems significant/symbolic/sentimental enough! It will come, I am hoping, serendipitously. I am also really excited to say "Sorry, I have to stay home and look after my duck".

This is no name, my duck

  1. OMG!!!! So cute
How about Ducky Springfield or Sam Shaducky.
My dogs nicknames are Snoozy Bishop and Sam Shakissy.
    Or the classic Jemima Puddledduck.

  2. That is so cute! I love ducks!

  3. Oh Minna Minna Minna you are just the coolest. And your duck is beautiful.
