Today I went to the Salvation Army and was rifling through a few things looking for 70s National Geographic magazines when I came across a bulging packet of something that upon opening revealed the absolute motherload - a collection of 'assorted' stickers. It is totally out of control and I reckon there'd be over 2000 stickers there. The mind boggles trying to comprehend it. And they're mine, all mine!
My grandmother has penguin stickers similar to those in the pile (she collects penguin related things). I wonder if her collection will eventually end up in an op-shop too.
ReplyDeleteWow that would be a super collection! Hopefully you inherit it rather than it going to an op shop - but you can find comfort in the fact that if it does it could be bought and treasured by someone like us!
ReplyDeleteThat's so cool! I wish I could find a sticker collection like that. What are you going to do with them? You should make some more amazing art with the stickers or cover a strip of wall with them
ReplyDeleteI'm still jumping around really excited about it.. ha... YEAH it would be so cool to cover a strip of wall! I was thinking they'd be really perfect for ROOKIE illustrations in Feb because the theme is OBSESSION. I could make illustrations entirely out of 'I love you' stickers and stuff with like Leonardo Dicaprio's face or something woohoo!
ReplyDeletewhat salvation army did you get them from?
ReplyDeleteI live in Melbourne as well. I really love your work it's really inspiring and I love seeing your diary post of rookie

I bought the stickers from the Salvation Army in Diamond Creek - which is like way out in the North Eastern suburbs. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for that very flattering compliment - and i'm off to check out your blog now
