The Haunting

I'm conducting a project where I ask as many people as I can if they've ever seen a ghost. I want to collect stories and experiences just to have in my mind. My favourite thing to do in a conversation is ask questions. I love it when people launch into interesting stories. I can make the mistake of asking too many questions to someone boring and get myself stuck though. Another question I've asked is "What's your favourite last line in a movie?" but I generally find people aren't as weird as me and don't remember them. I think mine would be this one from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory although there are lots of others...

Willy Wonka: But Charlie, don't forget what happened to the man who suddenly got everything he he always wanted.
Charlie Bucket: What happened?
Willy Wonka: He lived happily ever after.

So, have you seen a ghost? Or, do you have any favourite last movie lines?

  1. So I haven't seen a ghost (yet) but I have a favourite ghost story that my ma told me as a kid.

In the 1970s there was this awesome spiritualist talkback radio program on of a night, she would lay in bed and listen to all these creeps calling up and retelling ghostly experiences they'd had. One woman called up and said that she'd done a seance years and years earlier.... ever since that fateful event every night when she'd look out her window there would be a slaughtered pigs head floating in the sky....

This story scared the heck out of me as a kid, actually i'm still pretty scared of looking out windows at night.

Favourite movie line- 16 candles when Jake Ryan asks the Geek about Samantha and the Geek thinks its her boyfriend : "Oh, man, I'm really... I'm really sorry, man. I must've been on drugs five minutes ago."

I use that line more than any others... xx

  2. WOW that's a really really great story!!! I'm genuinely scared of that pigs head, that is absolutely TERRIFYING!! I have heard lots of interesting stories actually, even though lots of people say they haven't seen a ghost themselves, they usually have some story about someone they know who had and stuff.. you can find out a lot about someone's childhood from asking the ghost question too because this was usually when the experience occurred.

I can't wait to hear other people's stories!!

  4. I've never seen a ghost and I don't remember last lines of movies, but I completely empathize with, "My favourite thing to do in a conversation is ask questions." I love it! They have to be authentic questions. None of this "where do you want to go to college" crap.

  6. the way we were is just beyond amazing, you're post reminded me about it's ending (pracitcally) quote and actually inspired me to dig it up from its pre-year 12 grave and watch it again, so thankyou for that~
